Psalm 121,states "I lift up my eyes to the hills from where does my help come?.My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved"
"Joshua and the Israelites were also asked to look to the hilltops. From there shall their help come through the intercession of Moses as they defend themselves against their mortal foes-the Amalekites"(Scott Hahn).
"The Amalekites fought the Israelites on their way to freedom from Egypt (Ex17:8ff). In the Jewish tradition, Amalek is translated as a Hebrew word which means "pure evil" or "spiritual blindness"
Therefore, Amalek stands, signifies and represents anything that hinders both our material and spiritual growth/progress: all the forces of darkness, all the machination of the enemy in our life; all that steal our joy and happiness; all that want to keep us in slavery to sin; all that want to keep us in perpetual material & spiritual poverty; all the enemies of our progress are the Amalekites of our life.
By lifting up of hands in prayers, Moses & the Israelites conquered the Amalekites. Also in the perplexities of life, the Psalmist cried: "from where shall my help come? My help shall come from the Lord who made heaven & earth"(Ps121).
Therefore, it is only God that can help us to victory in our daily battle against the Amalekites. We need to be prayerful & remain steadfast in prayer"(Fr Osinachi Ujunwa).
My dear friend, lift up your hands of prayer, never loose hope,it may seem that God is not answering but He will respond at the right time....know that you have a friend in Jesus, all our sins and griefs HD bear....what a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer....what a peace we often forfeit....what needless pain we bear...all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
