Been having a serious reflection about sin in our world today and how various Churches view sin and how easily do people get involve in sinful acts .And I decided to sample your opinion ....I know everybody is a sinner and the bible says"all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" ,Secondly whosoever that says he or she has no sin makes God a liar, but then my question is ....Among Catholic faithfuls and protestant faithfuls, who do you think will find it very easy to commit sin ?

Answer and give your reasons.comments needed

Never put off the good you want to do

A man woke up early in order to have his morning Prayers. He got dressed, set on his way to the Church.
On his way to the CHURCH, the man fell and his clothes got dirty. He got up, brushed himself up, and headed home.
At home, he changed his clothes, and was, again, on his way to the CHURCH.
On his way to the CHURCH, he fell again and at the same spot! He, again, got up, brushed himself off and headed home. At home he, once again, changed his clothes and was on his way to the Church.
On his way to the CHURCH, he met a man holding a lamp. He asked the man of his identity and the man replied ‘I saw you fall twice on your way to the CHURCH, so I brought a lamp so I can light your way.
The first man thanked him profusely and the two went on their way to the CHURCH.
Once at the CHURCH, the first man asked the man with the lamp to come in and offer Prayers with him.
The second man refused.
The first man asked him a couple more times and, again, the answer was the same.
The first man asked him why he did not wish to come in and pray.
The man replied, ‘I am Satan’. The man was shocked at this reply.
Satan went on to explain, ‘I saw you on your way to the CHURCH and it was I who made you fall. When you went home, cleaned yourself and went back on
your way to the CHURCH, Jesus forgave all of your sins.
I made you fall a second time, and even that did not encourage you to stay home, but rather, you went back on your way to CHURCH. Because of that, Jesus forgave all the sins of the people of your household.
I was afraid if I made you fall one more time, then Jesus will forgive the sins of the whole nation (world) so I made sure that you reached the CHURCH safely.’
Do not put off the good you intended to do as you never know how much reward you might receive from the hardships you encounter while trying to achieve that good. For your righteousness can save your family and nation at large.
Do this and see the victory of the Jesus.

Be Grateful to God.:Touchy Story

A widowed mother leaves her house and went to fetch water, leaving her only child asleep. On her return, she found a large crowd around her burning house. On the inside, her son is about to die in the fire. Throwing her bowl of water on the floor, and crying, she wants to get into the burning house to look for her son. Everyone keeps saying, “You’re going to die too, fire is very great.”
Escaping from their hands, she enters the fire and wrapped her son in a blanket. The child, tight against her breast, is not touched by the fire. Mummy comes out severely burnt and is only narrowly saved; thanks to the care of the hospital, but she lives with scars and unrecognizable.
Many years passed. The child, under the guidance of his mother, completed his studies and was appointed minister. He organized a party at his villa on his appointment, and invited all the dignitaries of the city and his friends.
While they were in the party, noises were heard at the door of the entrance to the villa. The son was forced to go and resolve the situation. He found that the security officers were preventing his mother from joining the party. He had not invited her but she also wanted to join the party.
Faced with this situation in front of his guests, he said tenderly to his mother: “Please, Mom, I would be ashamed to have you appear before my friends. We can have a meeting later. “And in secret, he ordered the security services to throw out his mother because of her scars … and went into continue partying.
This woman represents Jesus Christ who sacrificed himself for you and me. He saved us by sacrificing his life. It is He who has received the scars because of you and me.
Today, what place do you give him in your life? How do we treat him? Are you ashamed of His scars? Do you receive him into your heart and life in your good times? Are you happy to introduce your Master to your “wealthy” friends?” Are you ready to witness him?
“If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.” Mk 8:38 (Mt 10:33; 2Tim 2:12)

LIFE IS AN INVIOLABLE RIGHT:BORN AND UNBORN

A worried woman went to her gynecologist and said: ‘Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help! My baby is not even 1 year old and I’m pregnant again. I don’t want kids so close together. So the doctor said: ‘Ok and what do you want me to do?’ She said: ‘I want you to end my pregnancy, and I’m counting on your help with this.’
The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady: ‘I think I have a better solution for your problem. It’s less dangerous for you too.’ She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.
Then he continued: ‘You see, in order for you not to have to take care 2 babies at the same time, let’s kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we’re going to kill one of them, it doesn’t matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms.
The lady was horrified and said: ‘No doctor! How terrible! It’s a crime to kill a child!
‘I agree’, the doctor replied. ‘But you seemed to be OK with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.’
The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point. He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that’s already been born and one that’s still in the womb. The crime is the same!
Life is an inviolable right and should be valued, respected and cherished at all levels, whether born and unborn

God''s Mercy

“If we look forward to receiving God's mercy, we can never fail to do good so long as we have the strength. For if we share with the poor, out of love for God, whatever He has given to us, we shall receive according to His promise a hundredfold in eternal happiness. What a fine profit, what a blessed reward! With outstretched arms He begs us to turn toward Him, to weep for our sins, and to become the servants of love, first for ourselves, then for our neighbors. Just as water extinguishes a fire, so love wipes away sin.”

ST JOHN OF GOD

Mercy

“As members of the Church, we must have the courage to ask humbly for God’s pardon, as well as for the forgiveness of those who have been wounded: we must remain close to them on their road of suffering, seeking in every possible way to heal and bind up the wounds following the example of the Good Samaritan.”

Cardinal Marc

DEEP ROOTED IN GOD

A writer and a farmer were talking one day in a local café about the farmer’s soybean and corn crops.
Rain had been abundant in recent weeks, and the results were evident.
The soybeans and corn were shooting up dramatically.
“All of this rain must be a great relief to you,” the writer said.
The farmer replied, “My crops are especially vulnerable now.”
‘What do you mean?” the writer asked.
The farmer replied, “Even a short drought could have a devastating effect.”
“Why is that?” the writer asked.
The farmer explained, “When it rains so much, the plants are not required to push their roots deeper into the earth in search of water.
All of the roots remain near the surface.
If a drought hits and begins to dry out the earth, it also dries out those shallow roots. The plants then die quickly.”
He concluded, “A good plant needs deep roots that can withstand what happens above the ground.”
Choose to send down roots into what is truly eternal – reading the Bible, praising God and worshipping regularly with other believers.
Then when times of stress hit your life, a deeply rooted love of God will give you the power to endure.
If the roots are deep and strong, the tree needn’t worry about the wind.
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord… He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; the leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. (Jeremiah 17:7-8)

WHAT IS IN AN AGE?...ON MY BIRTHDAY

In life ,there is a common celebration everybody longs for.We call it birthday celebration. On such days one is showered with prayers, gifts and congratulatory messages. But what actually is worth celebrating on this day?

Is it the number of years?,Is it the eating and drinking?,Is it the number of wishes received? ,Is it about who takes you out ?,Is it your accomplishments?....These are all accident's in a life where substance is the most important .

Age is not about accident,it's  about the substance of your life...which entails how you have influenced people positively, how you have used your age to bring smiles ,happiness and joy to lots of people,Age is about the love you share and receive, it's about living for others..selfless service to others. Your age means nothing if you have only succeeded in using it to bring sorrows and difficulties to people around you.

There is a fountain of youth,it is your mind ,your talent and the  creativity you bring to your life and to the lives of the people around you love .When you learn to tap this source you will truly have aged....Sophia loren

Age is about learning and "anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty, anyone who keeps learning stays young .The greatest thing in life is to keep the mind young"....Hemp  Ford

So use your age wisely,Don't be a fool forever....It's not only a fool at forty, it can also so be a fool at twenty.Draw near to God,ask Him for the wisdom to age gracefully,Use your age to bring joy and smiles to faces,Live responsible.Never be far from your creator for the aged grow weary and the young gets tired but those who trust in the Lord shall renew their strenght (isaiah 40:31)....pay less attention to what men say in as much as your doing right, rather watch what they do.

Remember "age is like love,it cannot be hid"

Happy Feast day of St Cosmos and Demian

Folks in Heaven

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven’s door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp–
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbour
Who never said anything nice.

Bob, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloudnine,
Looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, ‘What’s the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How’d all these sinners get up here?
God must’ve made a mistake.

‘And why is everyone so quiet,
So somber – give me a clue.’
‘Hush, child,’ He said,
‘they’re all in shock.
No one thought they’d be seeing you..’

JUDGE NOT!!

Remember…Just going to church doesn’t make you a
Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a mechanic.

Every saint has a PAST…
Every sinner has a FUTURE!

Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil…
It has no point!

“You victorious martyrs who endured torments gladly for the sake of the God and Savior, you who have boldness of speech toward the Lord himself, you saints, intercede for us who are timid and sinful men, full of sloth, that the grace of Christ come upon us, and enlighten the hearts of all of us that so we may love him.”

SEVEN PRINCIPLES OF AN EAGLE TO LIVE BY

Seven Principles of an eagle to live by

(1) Eagles fly alone and at high altitudes. They don’t fly with sparrows or other small birds.

Stay away from sparrows and ravens, those that bring you down. Eagles fly with Eagles. Keep good company.

(2) Eagles have an accurate vision. They have the ability to focus on something as far as 5km. No matter the obstacles, the eagle will not move his focus from the prey until he grabs it.

Have a vision and remain focused no matter what the obstacle and you will succeed.

(3) Eagles do not eat dead things. They feed only on fresh prey.

Do not rely on your past success. Keep looking for new frontiers to conquer. Leave your past where it belongs, in the past.

(4) Eagles love the storm. When clouds gather, the eagles get excited. The eagle uses the storm’s wind to lift it higher. Once it finds the wind of the storm, the eagles uses the raging storm to lift him above the clouds. This gives the eagle an opportunity to glide and rest its wings. In the meantime, all the other birds hide in the leaves and branches of the trees.

Face your challenges knowing that these will make you emerge stronger and better than you were. We can use the storms of life to rise to greater heights. Achievers are not afraid of challenges rather they relish them and use them profitably.

(5) Eagles tests the commitments of the partner. When a female eagle meets a male and they want to mate, she flies down to earth with the male pursing her and she picks a twig. She flies back into the air with the male pursuing her.
Once she has reached a height high enough for her, she lets the twig fall to the ground and watches it as it falls. The male chases after the twig. The faster it falls, the faster he chases until he reaches it and has to catch it before it falls to the ground, then bring it back to the female eagle.

The female eagle grabs the twig and flies to a much higher altitude, and then drops the twig for the male to chase. This goes on for hours, with the height increasing until the female eagle is assured that the male eagle has mastered the art of picking the twig which shows commitment, then and only then, will she allow him to mate with her!

Whether in private life or in business, one should test commitment of people intended for partnership.

(6) Eagles prepare for training. They remove the feathers and soft grass in the nest so that the young get uncomfortable in preparation for flying.

Leave your comfort zone, there is no growth in it.

(7) Rebirth of Eagle: When the Eagle grows old, his feathers become weak and cannot take him as fast as he should. When he feels weak and about to die, he retires to a place far away in the rocks. While there, he plucks out every feather on his body until he is completely bare. He stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, then he can come out. [It is a myth and not true, but let us take the lesson]

We occasionally need to shed off old habits, things that burden us, or add no value to our lives.

“But those who wait on The Lord shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings like eagles;

they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

(Isaiah 40:31)

TO LOVE AND TO BE LOVED

Once upon a time ….

A very poor man lived with his wife. One day, his wife, who had very long hair asked him to buy her a comb for her hair to grow well and to be well-groomed.

The man felt very sorry and said no. He explained that he did not even have enough money to fix the strap of his watch he had just broken.

She did not insist on her request.

The man went to work and passed by a watch shop, sold his damaged watch at a low price and went to buy a comb for his wife.

He came home in the evening with the comb in his hand ready to give to his wife.

He was surprised when he saw his wife with a very short hair cut. She had sold her hair and was holding a new watch band.

Tears flowed simultaneously from their eyes, not for the futility of their actions, but for the reciprocity of their love.

Moral of the story: To love is nothing, to be loved is something but to love and to be loved by the one you love, that is everything

MILLIONAIRE AND THREE BEGGERS:APPROACH OF MAN AND GOD''S RESPONSE

There was a good-natured millionaire in the town. Three beggars thought of approaching him for help.

The first man went to the millionaire and said: “O Boss! I want five rupees. Please give me.”

The millionaire was taken aback at this man’s impudence. “What! You demand five rupees from me as though I owe you the money!

How dare you? How can I afford to give five rupees to a single beggar? Here, take these two rupees and get away,” he said.
The man went away with the two rupees.

The next beggar went to the millionaire and said: “Oh Boss! I have not taken a square meal for the past ten days. Please help me.”

“How much do you want?” asked the millionaire.
“Whatever you give me,” replied the beggar.

“Here, take this ten rupee note. You can have nice food for at least three days.” The beggar walked away with the ten rupee note.

The third beggar came. “Oh Boss, I have heard about your noble qualities. Therefore, I have come to see you.

Men of such charitable disposition are verily the manifestations of God on earth,” he said.

“Please sit down,” said the millionaire. “You appear to be tired. Please take this food,” he said, and offered food to the beggar.

“Now please tell me what I can do for you.”

“Oh Boss,” replied the beggar; “I merely came to meet such a noble personage that you are.

You have given me this rich food already. What more need I get from you?
You have already shown extraordinary kindness towards me. May God bless you!”

But the millionaire, struck by the beggar’s spirit, begged of the beggar to remain with him, built a decent house for him in his own compound, and looked after him for the rest of his life.

God is like this good millionaire.

Three classes of people approach Him, with three different desires and prayers.

There is the greedy man full of vanity, full of arrogance, full of desires. He demands the objects of worldly enjoyment from God. Since this man, whatever be his vile desires, has had the good sense to approach God, He grants him some part of the desired objects (even these very soon pass away, just as the two rupees the first beggar got are spent before nightfall).

The other type of devotee prays to the Lord for relief from the sufferings of the world, but is better than the first one, in as much as he is ready to abide by His Will. To him the Lord grants full relief from suffering, and bestows on him much wealth and property.

The third type he merely prays to the Lord:

“O Lord, Thou art Existence-Absolute, Knowledge-Absolute, Bliss-Absolute, etc., etc.”

What does he want? Nothing.

But the Lord is highly pleased with his spirit of renunciation, of desirelessness and of self-surrender.

Therefore, He makes him eat His own food, I.e., He grants this man Supreme Devotion to Himself.

Over and above this, He makes the devotee live in His own House. Forever afterwards this devotee dwells in the Lord’s Abode as a Liberated Sag

FOR ALL GOOD MOTHERS AND EVERY GOOD WOMAN

When God created woman he was working late on the 6th day…….

An angel came by and asked.” Why spend so much time on her?”

The lord answered. “Have you seen all the specifications I have to meet to shape her?”

She must function on all kinds of situations,
She must be able to embrace several kids at the same time,
Have a hug that can heal anything from a bruised knee to a broken heart,
She must do all this with only two hands,”
She cures herself when sick and can work 18 hours a day”

THE ANGEL was impressed” Just two hands…..impossible!

And this is the standard model?”

The Angel came closer and touched the woman”
“But you have made her so soft, Lord”.
“She is soft”, said the Lord,
“But I have made her strong. You can’t imagine what she can endure and overcome”

“Can she think?” The Angel asked…
The Lord answered. “Not only can she think, she can reason and negotiate”

The Angel touched her cheeks….
“Lord, it seems this creation is leaking! You have put too many burdens on her”
“She is not leaking…it is a tear” The Lord corrected the Angel…

“What’s it for?” Asked the Angel….. .
The Lord said. “Tears are her way of expressing her grief, her doubts, her love, her loneliness, her suffering and her pride.”…

This made a big impression on the Angel,
“Lord, you are a genius. You thought of everything.
A woman is indeed marvellous”

Lord said.”Indeed she is.
She has strength that amazes a man.
She can handle trouble and carry heavy burdens.
She holds happiness, love and opinions.
She smiles when she feels like screaming.
She sings when she feels like crying, cries when happy and laughs when afraid.
She fights for what she believes in.

Her love is unconditional.
Her heart is broken when a next-of-kin or a friend dies but she finds strength to get on with life”

The Angel asked: So she is a perfect being?
The lord replied: No. She has just one drawback
“She often forgets what she is worth”.

Almsgiving to the poor 1

“Almsgiving, according to the Gospel, is not mere philanthropy: rather it is a concrete expression of charity, a theological virtue that demands interior conversion to love of God and neighbor, in imitation of Jesus Christ, who, dying on the cross, gave His entire self for us.”

The poor is the treasure of the church

Even Christ said in "For you always have the poor with you"(Mtt 26:11
And Paul challenges us to "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality.
Then in 1 chronicles 29:12....God said "Both riches and honour  came from God.

Poverty is therefore not a curse. It also offers an ample  opportunity to the rich to reflect over there lives....The poor today also made the same effort made by the rich even greater but was not favoured enough....So do not glory in riches ,see it as an opportunity to glorify God.Do not use it to intimidated others...Use it to serve God and your fellow human being

HELP THE POOR

The first reading of today condemns those who feel comfortable in the midst of chaos. Those who are quite happy when others are suffering. Those who wine and dine while the poor in the society are being persecuted.

The Gospel of the day narrowed it down with the story of Lazarus and the Rich man. The rich man was condemned not because he is fantastically  rich nor is it because of of his fine purple  linen clothing, feasting magnificently daily  which are all  evidence of his wealthness.
Lazarus was a poor man,a begger, a wretched and poverty stricken man, stinking and filled with sores all over his body...smelling.
Lazarus longed to fill himself with the scraps that fell from the rich man''s table...oh what a cruel world..Dogs even came and licked his sores....He was even generous enough to feed the dogs with his own sores but the rich man finds it difficult to help him even with the crumbs from his table.

Both died and Lazarus was made a rich man with the gift of Abraham''s bosom and the rich man was made a poor man with a deserving gift of hades

The question is...what is the sin of the rich man?

He committed the sin of omission, negligence
The rich man sees only himself,he was hard-hearted, myopic to the sufferings of others. He lack empathy and sympathy. There is no love in him

N/B.HE WAS A RICH MAN IN THIS TEMPORARY AND PASSING WORLD BUT BECAME A POOR MAN FOR ALL ETERNITY BECAUSE OF OMISSION AND LACK OF LOVE.
FRIENDS TURN TO GOD NOW,USE THE MATERIAL THINGS OF THIS WORLD TO WIN HEAVEN AND FRIENDS FOR YOURSELF.HELP THOSE IN NEED.

Charity is the root of virtues

“No act is charitable if it is not just.” ST BRUNO
“This my goodness does to endow the souls of the just more fully with spiritual riches when for my love they are stripped of material goods because they have renounced the world and all its pleasures and even their own will. These are the ones who fatten their souls, enlarging them in the abyss of my charity. Then I become their spiritual provider. The Holy Spirit becomes their servant.”
ST CATHERINE OF SIENA

Africa in its leaders

“Fasting is a medicine. But medicine, as beneficial as it is, becomes useless because of the inexperience of the user. He has to know the appropriate time that the medicine should be taken and the right amount of medicine and the condition of the body which is to take it, the weather conditions and the season of the year and the appropriate diet of the sick and many other things. If any of these things are overlooked, the medicine will do more harm than good. So, if one who is going to heal the body needs so much accuracy, when we care for the soul and are concerned about healing it from bad thoughts, it is necessary to examine and observe everything with every possible detail.”
ST JOHN C

CARDINAL GIANFRANCO RAVASI
“Let us be clear: we value religious liberty not only because it protects our personal autonomy. We value religious liberty because of the good which religion brings into the life of the individual believer and into the life of our nation.
